Well Folks! Today is the day! We're finishing up set up and awaiting your arrival! You'll notice some changes this year.. One of the best ones is a handful of portable fire pits for cooking. Those of you that have attended Harvest before have more than likely met our friend Jake. Always there to help and loves to learn as much as he can. Well Jake has begun his journey in welding so we had him craft these amazing cookstoves that will be scattered about for your use. Can't wait! He also has made up a few for sale and has them on site! Everyone make sure to give them a whirl and thank Jake for working hard and helping to improve Harvest Gathering for us all! #harvestgatheringcommunity #knowledgethroughnature #traditionalskillsenthusiasts
It has been a few years since hide tanning has taken place for Harvest Gathering. Huge thanks to Danielle Prophet and Daniel Stermac for reviving a community favourite. Danielle has taken tanning skills she's learned and gone above and beyond to hone her skills. Alongside Daniel Stermac, they will be working their knowledge, used on a regular basis, showing us how to bring new life to hides and skins that normally would be tossed aside. A long standing member of the Harvest Gathering community is once again standing up to run some incredible workshops. This year Tell will be running both soapstone pendant carving and fiber woven bags simultaneously as a drop in. These bags are highly popular and we have no doubt that the soapstone pendants will be just as sought after. Let us know in the comments if you'll be joining us and what you plan on bringing (mostly so we can all dream of the food early) As many of you know, and some of you don't, not only do we come together as a community when it comes to skill sharing and our love of the outdoors... But also delicious food!! The Saturday of our annual event we come together for our Potluck Feast and to give thanks for our great group. Everyone brings something to the table as we share all kinds of dishes from vegan, gluten and sugar free, hearty veggies and meat of various kinds. We ask that everyone labels their choices and dishes to help attendees choose appropriately and to help with clean up afterwards.
